I wrote the sentence, “I don’t know” and then gave up cause I’m busy watching the election coverage and HAVING SO MUCH ANXIETY!!!
NaNo is important, I know, but this historic election is very important too.
By tonight we will know whether America has its first female president or its first racist cheeto president.
Only time will tell.
It’s okay, I can catch up tomorrow.
He won’t be the first terrible president this nation has seen. But, history only confirms what kind of a mess it creates when we do elect them.
A lot of my friends feel very scared and I don’t necessarily feel much different, even knowing that I’m personally *mostly* outside of his sphere of terror, being white, not poor, and living in a liberal part of the US. But I have a more real fear for my friends who don’t have the same privileges.

I’m scared and it really stings that half of America told me today that my rights and my life don’t matter. I’m FAR more afraid of the fact that the senate and house are both GOP majority now, meaning our entire federal government is controlled by conservatives and I’m a queer woman just about to graduate from college who has always lived in an impoverished area even though we are above the poverty line.
But I CAN’T believe that most of America is hateful and evil, I think most of America was ignorant and careless, and ignorance and carelessness can be fixed. I feel like we have to stand firm, don’t give up, refuse to let this get us down, and don’t let them have an inch without making them take it from us.
I am afraid of what rights we could lose with the whole government controlled by conservatives, but at the same time, I think that culturally we will continue to get more progressive and move forward, so this will pass and things WILL get better.
Be scared. Be ashamed. But don’t give up. The best thing to do is push back in every way possible and next time we’ll have a more educated, more open-minded country to go to the polls. It’s only two years until mid-terms, and the congress members is far more important than the president. In two years, we can actually make a difference with our more open-minded and educated votes.
