Day 5 wasn’t great for me. I kept having to get up every 10 minutes from sitting at my laptop, meaning I got zero words written all day, but I read my last-written paragraph about a thousand times and poised my fingers to write and never pressed a key. Nothing like a thousand distractions all day!
However, I’m moving forward now, which is what really counts!
Today’s summary:
The best part is, I’ve already written 700 words in the first 20 minutes of Day 6, so I’ve surpassed yesterday already today. I’m going to reach at least 8,000 words tonight before I go to bed, so tomorrow (as in ‘when I wake up’ since its already technically tomorrow) I’ll only be 2,000 from reaching the minimum target, which is really no biggie if I’m able to actually sit down and write. I mean, on the NaNo Word Sprint twitter when we do the #1k30min thing, I’ve never written less than 1,000 words during the 30 minute sprint. Tonight in the one between 11:50 and 12:20 I wrote 1074 and that included stopping to do some quick research twice. I’m not worried now that I’m sure to have NO DISTRACTIONS tomorrow.
And if all else fails, Monday at work I can do some writing without interruption (dontliewealldoit).
How are you guys doing? Are you way ahead of schedule? Are you behind? Don’t worry, it’s still VERY early in the month! I didn’t start until day 5 last year, skipped a few days in the middle, and I still won, so you’ve got PLENTY of time!
